Kids Spanish Immersion & Enrichment Social Classes Aid Bilingual Parenting

A revolution in how children are taught Spanish is underway in California. Social teaching environments and bilingual learning bring new benefits for all participants.

Culver City, United States - August 10, 2018 /NewsNetwork/ —

California’s embrace of Proposition 58 in November 2016 opened the door to the reintroduction of non-English language teaching, most commonly Spanish, in public schools. Now imaginative education entrepreneurs all over the state are providing innovative ways for busy parents to immerse their kids in Spanish language and culture in preschool, after school and summer camp settings in an effort to make their children bilingual at an early age.

One of the most interesting philosophies emerging from the increased academic study on the effects a bilingual education has on children’s development is that social environments foster an almost unconscious learning of important language fundamentals. Young children very quickly grasp multi-language equivalence in numbers, colors, sounds and smells without tedious vocabulary exercises that are traditionally based on repetition and homework.

A new group of educators at Chiqui Social in Culver City CA aims to bring exactly this type of bilingual Spanish Immersion education to the wider Los Angeles area.

Owner Lizet Alvarez notes “One of the newest trends in public education is two-way immersion where two languages are taught side by side with the aim of functional bilingualism by the time kids get to Middle School. Chiqui Social helps develop those language skills in a fun, social setting.”

Alvarez adds “The first seven years of a child’s life is when their belief system is formed. Learning a different language can make them more aware of cultural differences. They also come to understand why those differences exist and the importance of respecting cultures different from their own.”

Chiqui Social is enrolling children now for all classes. The company’s goal is to develop a lifelong ability in children to communicate with people from other cultures, countries, and backgrounds and to expand their educational, professional, and social opportunities. Chiqui Social provides an ideal setting for gently exposing your child to one of the world’s most popular languages.

Saudi Arabia expels Canadian ambassador over criticism

Aug 17, 2018

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Saudi Arabia expelled the Canadian ambassador Monday and froze "all new business" with Ottawa over its criticism of the ultraconservative kingdom's arrest of women's rights activists — yet another warning to the West reflecting Riyadh's newly assertive foreign policy. The sudden and unexpected dispute bore the hallmarks of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's 32-year-old future leader, whose recent foreign policy exploits include the war in Yemen, the boycott of Qatar and Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri's surprise resignation broadcast during a visit to the kingdom. Hariri later rescinded the resignation, widely believed to...

Imran Khan's party nominates him as Pakistan's next PM

Aug 17, 2018

ISLAMABAD — Imran Khan's party on Monday officially nominated the cricket star-turned-politician to be Pakistan's next prime minister. To assume office, Khan will face a vote in parliament — perhaps as early as Saturday — in which he will have to defeat a rival candidate fielded by the opposition. Khan's Tahreek-e-Insaf party won the most parliament seats in last month's general elections — 115 — but fell short of a majority in the 342-seat assembly, requiring it to form a coalition. Many lawmakers who won as independents in the July 25 vote have joined his coalition. Tahreek-e-Insaf leader Arif Alvi,...

Iran's Ahmadinejad opines on Trump, James spat

Aug 17, 2018

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Iran's former hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's quest to return to the spotlight now includes weighing in on a spat between President Donald Trump and basketball star LeBron James. Ahmadinejad used Twitter — which is banned in Iran — to write Sunday: "In my opinion everyone especially a President should love all, and not differentiate between them." He added that he loved NBA greats James and Michael Jordan, as well as former Denver Nuggets player Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf. Trump wrote a tweet Friday night questioning James' intelligence after he gave an interview to CNN and criticized the...

2 New Yorker artists bring colors, smiles to Rohingya camps

Aug 17, 2018

KUTUPALONG, Bangladesh — With his blond dreads tied in a ponytail and baggy jeans caked with paint smudges, Max Frieder first arrived at the cramped Rohingya refugee camps last December. Unlike many other foreigners, he wasn't an aid worker in one of the biggest camps for Myanmar's persecuted minority in southern Bangladesh. His mission: bringing color and art to one of the most dismal places in the world. Amid the sea of makeshift bamboo-and-tarp shelters dotting the rolling hills of Kutupalong, some huts are now painted over with colorful murals. Each mural is a collection of stories from the lives...
